Known for his impactful work and strong leadership, Seton's story highlights his deep commitment to giving back while excelling in both academics and extracurricular pursuits.
Seton's upbringing in Toronto played a crucial role in shaping his values. Born to a dedicated educator and an entrepreneurial mother from South Africa, he grew up in a family that prioritized both education and social responsibility. Reflecting on his roots, Seton shared, "My parents always taught me that education is a tool for both personal growth and for helping others. They also showed me that giving back is a responsibility, not an option." This foundational belief has fueled Seton's passion for making a difference in his community.
From an early age, Seton balanced academics with community involvement and sports, excelling in hockey, basketball, and baseball. At the university level, these experiences have reinforced his leadership skills and his belief in the power of teamwork. "Sports have taught me that success isn't just about individual effort," Seton remarked. "It's about how well you can support and lead others toward a common goal."
As a business student, Seton is particularly interested in entrepreneurship and its potential for social impact. He envisions a future where business and community service intersect, bringing innovative solutions to real-world issues. "I want to find a way to integrate business with community service-something that brings innovation to solving real-world problems," he explained. Seton is also exploring corporate law as a career path, inspired by his involvement with the Western Pre-Law Society, where he has developed an appreciation for how legal knowledge can facilitate lasting social change.
The interview also explores Seton's approach to leadership and personal growth. Known for his collaborative and inclusive style, he believes that great ideas come from diverse perspectives. "One thing I've learned is that great ideas can come from anyone. By working together and listening to different viewpoints, we're able to achieve more," he said. Outside of academics and community projects, Seton finds balance through his passion for music, as a classic rock enthusiast and guitar player. "Playing music gives me a way to unwind and refocus," he shared.
Looking ahead, Seton plans to leverage his education to create a meaningful impact, particularly through sustainable and socially conscious entrepreneurship. "Sustainability isn't just a buzzword-it's a necessity," he emphasized. "As future leaders, we have a responsibility to make sure we're leaving the world better than we found it."
